Electricity output slows

CHINA’S electricity output in July fell 2 percent year on year to 509 billion kilowatt-hours, the National Bureau of Statistics said yesterday.

Output in the first seven months of the year increased 0.4 percent from the same period of last year to more than 3.2 trillion kWh, the bureau said.

Meanwhile, thermal power output in the year through July fell 3 percent to 2.5 trillion kWh, while hydropower production rose 9.6 percent year on year to 534 billion kWh, it said.
