Food Inflation Hits High
INDIA'S food price inflation has climbed to a nine-month high of 12.2 percent, despite a government campaign to control increases.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said a recent spike in prices of vegetables, pulses, fruits and milk was due to increased demand during a Hindu festival.
India's central bank last week raised its key interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point as the government struggles to contain inflation.
