THE use of the yuan has grown rapidly worldwide over the past nearly two years, with companies in Asia and Europe showing a strong preference for using the currency in the next six months, an industrial survey showed yesterday. The Renminbi Globalization Index, which tracks the progress of yuan-based business activity globally, showed a sevenfold jump in the use of the yuan across the world between December 2010 and September, driven by trade-settlement payments, Standard Chartered Bank said yesterday in the survey.
