HSBC flash PMI rises to 49.1

HSBC's China flash Purchasing Managers' Index, a gauge of manufacturing activity in private sectors, climbed in April to 49.1, compared with 48.3 in March, HSBC Holdings PLC announced today. A reading of 50 or higher generally indicates that activity is expanding.
