Imported goods get easy entry
Overseas goods worth of US$110 million have landed at the Shanghai pilot free trade zone since its inauguration, data from the city’s customs authority showed yesterday.
The figure was US$67.4 million in November as a program that allows imported goods to enter the FTZ before customs clearance is having a test run in the zone, Shanghai Customs said.
The trial program is estimated to shorten the time for customs process by two to three days and save logistics cost by 10 percent, according to the customs.
The customs regulator said it will carry out paperless customs clearance to further simplify procedures and improve efficiency.
At the same time, the regulator is seeking to tighten supervision on the border between the zone and domestic territory beyond it.
