Investment Pace Sustained
CHINESE companies are expected to maintain their pace of investment in Britain as the Chinese government encourages its firms to venture abroad despite the global financial downturn, British officials said yesterday.
In the 2008-2009 financial year ended in April, there were 59 new investment projects from China in Britain, Alastair Morgan, director of trade and investment for China at the British Embassy, said yesterday in Shanghai during British Business Secretary Peter Mandelson's visit. More than 60 new projects from China are expected during this financial year, and Morgan said some existing projects will be expanded. Mandelson arrived in Shanghai yesterday from Beijing.
