Ireland Bonds Soar Amid Fears
THE yields on Irish government bonds have risen to new euro-era highs amid fears that the country's bank-bailout bill will keep growing and overwhelm public finances. Rising bond yields don't directly hit Ireland's financing costs as the country has stopped seeking money from bond markets. But they do cast Ireland as likely to default.
