Low growth seen

FRANCE yesterday said economic growth next year will be only 2 percent, below the government's previous forecast of 2.5 percent.

The office of President Nicolas Sarkozy said growth this year will reach or exceed 1.4 percent, after slumping 2.5 percent in 2009.

Yesterday's statement followed a meeting between Sarkozy and ministers, including Prime Minister Francois Fillon and Finance Minister Christine Lagarde.
