Net output grows
HONG Kong's net output in all service activities rose an annual 6.3 percent in the second quarter, the Census & Statistics Department said yesterday.
Net output in the wholesale, retail and import-export trades, plus the restaurant and hotel sector, grew 16.3 percent, following a 19.8 percent rise in the first quarter, said the department, adding that the buoyancy in trade activities underpinned the strong growth.
For the construction sector, net output rose significantly by 16.3 percent, against the 0.6 percent marginal drop in the first quarter. The growth was boosted by the marked surge in public-sector works.
