Official Under Investigation Over Possible Leaks
A National Bureau of Statistics official is under investigation over the possible leaking of economic data, bureau spokesman Sheng Laiyun said yesterday.
Suspicions that data was being leaked arose after the Reuters news agency had accurately predicted China's consumer prices before their official release seven times over the past two years.
They cited unnamed sources or key government officials.
Bloomberg and Morgan Stanley successfully predicted the May inflation rate but Reuters was 0.1 percentage points adrift.
