Philippine delegation at forum

A DELEGATION from the Philippines comprising governors and business leaders from seven central Luzon provinces was seeking investors and business partners in Shanghai through an investment forum held yesterday.

Presidential Assistant Lorelie Fajardo, who led the delegation, said China was the fastest growing market for Philippine products. She said central Luzon offered an exciting range of investment opportunities.

Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez, the Philippine consul-general, said bilateral trade reached US$30.6 billion in 2007, three years ahead of the schedule and Chinese companies had invested more than US$440 million in various projects in her country.

Jian Heping, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said Shanghai imported US$8 billion worth of goods from the Philippines last year.
