Positive trade report shows imports, exports both rising in April
CHINA'S trade rebounded in April as exports increased 0.9 percent from a year earlier and imports rose 0.8 percent, the General Administration of Customs reported this morning.
Exports landed at US$188.5 billion last month while imports rose to US$170.1 billion, creating a trade surplus of US$18.4 billion, which was up from March's US$7.7 billion.
The rebound was stronger than expected, serving as a relief for the market. In March, China's exports dropped 6.6 percent and imports lost 11.3 percent.
