Premier: China to spark new round of opening up
China will strive to initiate a new round of opening up, Premier Li Keqiang said today in Beijing.
"Opening wider to the world can accelerate the reforms and economic restructuring in the domestic market, and it helps to nurture international competitiveness," Li said in his first government report at the opening ceremony of the National People's Congress.
Li said China will initiate an "all-around" opening up strategy. The country will actively reduce restrictions to entering the service sector and create a level playing field for all companies to help make China a favored place among foreign investors.
He said the country will wisely manage the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and create similar policies that can be applied elsewhere. There will be a number of new trials in the FTZ this year to accelerate the opening-up process, Li added.
