Proposed Extension Of Duties 'Unwarranted'
CHINESE bicycle makers have condemned the proposed extension of anti-dumping duties on their products as "unwarranted," urging the European Union to drop the 18-year-old duties.
Officials from the China Chamber of Commerce for Machinery and Electronic Products and the China Bicycle Association arrived in Brussels on Monday for a hearing with the European Commission on the issue.
"The proposal of the European Commission to extend the duties for another three years is totally unwarranted," Zhang Peisheng, senior commissioner for the commerce chamber, said at a press conference.
Zhang said Chinese bicycle imports into the EU had fallen 38 percent during the three-year review period.
