DESPITE the increased scrutiny on officials, young jobseekers remain drawn to jobs in the public sector, a senior government official said yesterday.
In the ongoing provincial recruitment programs for civil servants, the number of applicants for each available job rose to 25.2, from 24.9 last year, said Li Zhong, spokesman for the human resources ministry.
A total of 101,800 positions are on offer, and key to their popularity is the promise of job stability, status and good welfare benefits, he said.
