Shanghai teams up with foreign agencies to promote 2-way investment

SHANGHAI Foreign Investment Development Board and 15 international trade and investment agencies announced today to establish a joint council to promote two-way investment.
The agencies include the Shanghai Investment Promotion Center of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the Japan External Trade Organization, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and the Australian Trade Commission.
The council with 73 members from 31 countries and regions will organize conferences, training programs and fairs to facilitate investment activities. It will also publish a magazine to strengthen communication.
In the first four months, Shanghai reported US$7.34 billion of foreign direct investment, up 17.2 percent from a year earlier, defying the national trend of receding foreign direct investment.
