Slow recovery, protectionism may hamper China trade
SLOWER growth of global economy and rising protectionism may become major concerns for China's trade this year, said officials at an annual conference today held by the Ministry of Commerce for Chinese traders.
The global economic growth may moderate this year and overall international trade may expand 7 percent, down 5.5 percentage points from that of 2010, said Li Canrong, an assistant commerce minister, quoting data from the International Monetary Fund.
"Recovery in developed countries may need more time than expected," Li said at the conference in Beijing. "High unemployment rate in the United States and unfolding debt crisis in Europe may hamper a continuous recovery in the West."
Another concern is the ever rising protectionism, Li added.
