Spotlight on innovation at forum
A two-day Pujiang Innovation Forum opens in Shanghai today with experts discussing how to nurture China into an innovative country and help its industrial restructuring.
China's economic dependence on industry hasn't changed fundamentally. It is still exchanging economic growth with high energy consumption and big pollution, especially on steel, construction materials and chemical industry, experts said.
This year's forum introduces a foreign partner country and a domestic partner province for the first time.
Germany is the foreign partner and Beijing is the domestic partner at the forum which is launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Shanghai government.
The development of environmental friendly technology and protection will be discussed at the forum.
The new generation of information technology and new energy vehicle will also be highlighted in the forum.
