US slaps duties
THE United States has slapped final anti-dumping duties ranging from zero to 247.65 percent on gift boxes and other types of narrow woven ribbons from China it said were unfairly priced.
The decision on Tuesday is a mixed victory for Berwick Offray, a Pennsylvania company that had asked for protection last year from the Asian exporters. It accused its Chinese competitors of selling in the US at unfairly low prices. It also accused Chinese companies of receiving government subsidies.
The case is one of several brought by US manufacturers against China in recent years.
