Vote of investor confidence
AFFLUENT Chinese investors are more confident than their global peers about investment prospects this year, a private survey showed yesterday.
Chinese investors scored an average of 7 points on a scale of 1 to 10 — with 10 being the most optimistic — when asked about their outlook for 2014, while the global average was 6.8 points, the survey by Legg Mason Global Asset Management showed.
Chinese investors preferred equities, with 41 percent planning to boost their allocation this year, compared with 37 percent for all respondents, the survey showed. The survey, which was done in December and January, covered 4,320 affluent investors across 20 major financial markets. They included 201 on the Chinese mainland with an average US$2.5 million in investable assets.
