CNPC overseas output dips
CHINA National Petroleum Corp said yesterday that combined oil and gas output in its overseas projects reached 50.35 million tons of oil equivalent this year as of Monday.
It was the second year for the country's largest oil and gas producer to see its overseas oil and gas production exceed 50 million tons of oil equivalent. The figure dropped from 51.7 million tons last year.
The company's overseas operation in the past year has suffered due to the global economic downturn, turmoil in some oil states, and tight policies in resource countries, the company said.
The figure equals the annual production capacity of CNPC's domestic Daqing oilfield, the country's largest oil and gas deposit.
In comparison, China produced 204 million tons of crude oil and 102.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas domestically last year, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy.
