Chemical group targets market for efficient buildings
GERMAN chemical group Wacker Chemie has launched a new production site in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, to tap the fast growing market for raw materials to be used in energy-saving construction.
Wacker invested more than 50 million euros (US$74.8 million) in the 100,000-square-meter site to produce polymer powders for use in energy-efficient buildings. The site has a capacity of 30,000 tons per year, becoming one of the world's largest of its kind.
Auguste Willems, a member of the Wacker Group's executive board, said: "China has the largest urbanization potential with special focus on energy-efficiency in construction against the backdrop of a shortage of resources and higher prices."
