Intelligent machine
Residents in Hong Kong will soon be getting natural gas transported from the mainland as an underwater pipeline has been built.
Engineers encountered challenges when trying to lay the final 29 kilometers of pipeline underwater.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University developed an intelligent machine that can embed pipes into the seabed. The machines dug a four-meter-deep trench to lay the pipeline. The technology will be on display at the 2012 China International Industry Fair.
