Nuclear JV

SHANGHAI Automation Instrument Co and British engineering group IMI agreed to create a joint venture in China to supply its nuclear industry.

The venture will produce control valves for critical applications for China's new nuclear power generation plants, IMI said yesterday.

IMI said the venture and the parties' respective contributions are expected to be finalized in the next few months, with plans for a new valve production plant on Shanghai's Chongming Island.

China ranks the world's No. 1 in nuclear power capacity under construction.
