THE Chinese government yesterday approved construction of the Hualong One pilot nuclear power unit, a domestically developed third-generation nuclear power project.
Hualong One draws over 20 years of experience of China’s nuclear power operators by using advanced design, said a statement released after a State Council meeting presided over by Premier Li Keqiang.
Approval is in line with the global energy trend, and will help optimize the country’s energy structure and build a diversified clean energy system, the statement said.
