PetroChina net up
PETROCHINA Ltd, Asia's biggest oil producer, jumped 71.2 percent in first-quarter profit from a year earlier, thanks to growing domestic demand and crude oil prices.
The company's net income climbed to 32.5 billion yuan (US$4.76 billion) in the first three months, or 0.18 yuan per share, and its sales revenue jumped 75.2 percent to 318.8 billion yuan in the first three months, it said.
PetroChina attributed the growth in profit growth to the rising global crude oil prices and soaring domestic demand. It sold 27 million tons of gasoline, diesel and kerosene in the first quarter, rising 27.3 percent on an annual basis.
