Power deals in Egypt

SHANGHAI Electric signed a five-year contract to build six thermal power units for Egyptian Electric Holding Co, the state-owned energy equipment manufacturer said yesterday.
Construction of the six units will be spread over two phases. Under the first phase, worth up to US$2.64 billion, four thermal power units with an average capacity of 660 megawatts will be built. The second phase, whose value the company didn’t reveal, will see the building of two units with an average capacity of 1,000MW.
Shanghai Electric will build, operate and maintain the equipment for five years.
