Power demand slows
CHINA'S March power consumption growth slowed from February as the government took steps to prevent the economy from overheating.
Electricity demand rose 13 percent last month from a year earlier to 388.8 billion kilowatt-hours, the National Energy Administration said on its website yesterday. That compares with February's 16 percent increase.
Industrial consumption gained 14 percent in March to 295.4 billion kwh. Residential demand rose 11 percent to 48.4 billion kwh.
Electricity use gained 13 percent in the first three months to 1.09 trillion kwh, compared with a 24 percent increase a year earlier.
