Promising well
CNOOC Ltd, China's dominant offshore oil and gas producer, said it has successfully appraised a field which is the largest oilfield discovered in the Bohai Bay in recent years.
One appraisal well at the Penglai 9-1 field was tested to produce around 700 barrels of oil per day, the company said in a statement. Penglai 9-1, which was discovered in 2010, is about 40 kilometers northeast of Penglai 19-3, which is CNOOC's largest offshore oilfield.
CNOOC also announced the discovery of Penglai 15-2, 8km south of Penglai 9-1.
