Sapa's new center

SWEDEN'S Sapa Group, an aluminum maker, yesterday announced the setup of its new global technology center in Shanghai to strengthen technical service and R&D support to its business in Asia.

The new center, in Jiading District, is the company's second global technology center after one in Sweden.

Sapa has set up a joint venture with Aluminum Corp of China earlier this year in Chongqing to make aluminum parts for rail transit projects. The venture, with investment of 630 million yuan (US$99 million), is due to start production in 2013.
