TRINIDAD and Tobago, one of the world's largest exporters of asphalt and liquefied natural gas, seeks investment from Chinese firms as trade rises between the two nations.
Minister of Trade and Industry Stephen Cadiz, who was in Shanghai to engage Chinese businessmen, said on Monday that the Caribbean nation is able to offer the lowest energy costs in the region and welcomes foreign investment in telecommunications, manufacturing, downstream energy, financial service and tourism.
China is the biggest buyer of Trinidad and Tobago's natural asphalt to meet domestic infrastructure needs.
Trinidad and Tobago will set up its embassy in Beijing in the coming five to six months, according to Ernest Littles, the director of tourism.
