CHINA is aiming to develop shale gas to optimize the nation's energy structure, the nation's top energy official said yesterday.
The National Energy Administration is to set up pilot exploration areas and strive to industrialize shale gas as early as possible, its director, Liu Tienan, said in Beijing.
China has exploitable reserves of 26 trillion cubic meters but they are largely undeveloped.
