Sinopec oil processing grows 5% in first half

SINOPEC Corp, Asia's largest refiner, said oil processing increased 5 percent in the first half of this year on higher demand.

Crude throughput rose to 108.53 million tons in the first half, or 4.4 million barrels per day, compared with 103.4 million tons a year earlier, according to its report released today.

China's apparent fuel demand rose 7.2 percent in the first half, the National Development and Reform Commission said earlier this week.

Sinopec's first-half crude oil output fell 6 percent to 156.93 million barrels after production fell sharply in Africa due to the overhaul of an oil block in Angola, the company said.

Still, the company's domestic crude production added 0.7 percent to 150.22 million barrels.

Sinopec's domestic refined fuel sales rose 10.2 percent to 75.1 million tons in the first half.

The operational figures released today are unaudited. Audited data will be released in its interim report to be released later, Sinopec said.
