Sinopec study

SINOPEC Corp and German chemicals company BASF yesterday agreed to study the possibility of building a 50-50 petrochemical plant in south China. The two will evaluate the technical, commercial and economic viability for the iso-nonanol plant in Maoming, Guangdong Province. They are expected to make a decision by the end of this year, the companies said after signing a memorandum of understanding yesterday, without giving the project's scale. Iso-nonanol is a feedstock for the production of next generation plasticizers.
