State Grid head taken in for probe
A senior official of the State Grid Corp of China has been detained for investigation, according to media reports, as an anti-graft campaign in the power industry deepens.
Zhu Changlin, director and Party secretary of State Grid’s north China division, was under investigation, Caixin and other Chinese media reported. Zhu, 54, worked previously as State Grid’s chief in Sichuan Province and Beijing.
News of Zhu’s detention became public after media reports said the National Audit Office last month sent hundreds of inspectors to the State Grid to conduct an accountability audit targeting its Chairman Liu Zhenya.
State Grid, a monopolistic power distributor in all but five southern provinces on the Chinese mainland, has yet to confirm the reports.
