Tianjin gas group boss under probe for disciplinary violation

Jin Jianping, Chairman of Tianjin Gas Group Co Ltd, is being investigated for “severe disciplinary violations,” Xinhua News Agency reported today, citing unnamed sources from the discipline committee in Tianjin.

Tianjin Jinran Public Utilities Co Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed subsidy of Tianjin Gas Group, said earlier this month that Jin had resigned as the company’s chairman and director due to “occupational movement.”

The 21st Century Business Herald reported on Tuesday that Jin was being investigated as part of a corruption probe into PetroChina Co.

Over the past weeks, the government has announced that five former senior officials at PetroChina or its state parent, China National Petroleum Corp, were being investigated for “severe disciplinary violations,” a phrase typically referring to corruption. They included Jiang Jiemin, former chairman of PetroChina and CNPC.
