1 in 3 firms see staff do overtime
ALMOST one in three employers in China said their staff are working extra hours but 40 percent admitted that the overtime hours are not being paid, recruitment firm Hays said yesterday.
In a survey of 2,600 employers, Hays found only 15 percent said overtime has been reduced, and 54 percent pointed out the same amount of extra hours has continued.
Of those who reported that overtime has increased, 40 percent said extra hours are up more than 10 hours per week for staff.
“Pressure on organizations to increase productivity means that existing teams are being asked to do more work with the same number of heads,” the report said. “They are looking for maximum productivity.”
