4 more licenses bring total to 176 QFIIs

FOUR overseas institutional investors have been granted investment licenses, bringing the total number of qualified foreign institutional investors to 176, the China Securities Regulatory Commission said yesterday.

BOC Group Life Assurance Co was granted the license on July 12 while Nan Shan Life Insurance Co, Hall Capital Partners and the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System were given theirs on August 6, according to a statement on the CSRC's official website.

The QFII license allows an investor to apply for a certain amount of investment quota to invest in the domestic securities market. So far 149 of the qualified overseas investors have a combined quota of US$28.53 billion.
