App offers easy offline services access
ALIBABA’S small finance affiliate plans to offer easier payment and promotion tools for both online and offline merchants as it unveils a new version of its smartphone app, allowing easier access to offline services.
Fan Zhiming, president of Ant Small and Micro Finance Services Group payment business unit, said Alipay aims to cover all aspects of users’ everyday life.
“We’ll provide a one-stop platform ranging from financial and wealth-management services to personal communication and offline payment,” he said.
Clearly targeting rival Tencent’s popular smartphone social app WeChat, Alipay said it’s offering new tools and a marketing platform to connect offline resources and online payment users.
Alipay also allows easier money transactions within a group of acquaintances such as classmates or co-workers.
Alipay is now working with more than 130,000 offline stores, eateries and convenience stores. It also offers an online registration service for more than 200 domestic hospitals.
