Bank gets tough

CHINA Minsheng Banking Corp has halted mortgage services to second-home buyers while the procedure to approve loan applications on first homes can take a longer time, sources said yesterday.
The bank is following the central government's call to tighten credit to drive out speculative home buyers.
Analysts said the move also came after conditions for tighter supply of liquidity were imposed on small and medium banks.
