Bankcard holders' confidence dips amid slowdown
CONFIDENCE among Chinese bankcard holders dipped in April amid a slowdown in the global economy and less spending on non-daily necessities, an industry report showed yesterday.
The Bankcard Consumer Confidence Index was down 0.12 to 86.65 last month, according to a report from China UnionPay, the country's sole bankcard transaction firm. Rising costs have curtailed consumer spending at restaurants and stores, and the BCCI is expected to remain stable, UnionPay said.
