Blue chips lead Shanghai index on the downtrend

SHANGHAI stocks continued to decline today, losing 1.34 percent to 2187.67 points. Turnover was 137.31 billion yuan($22.3 billion). Blues chips went on decreasing, a trend that has prevailed in the week.

Coal shares led today’s decliners, as new policies were issued yesterday to reduce restrictions in the market, an indication that the industry has passed its golden period, according to analysts.

Anyuan Coal Industry lost 7.32 percent to 5.19 yuan, while Shanxi Antai Group was down 6.19 percent to 3.18 yuan.

Brokerage shares joined the declining pack. As the trial on the lawsuit launched by 61 investors against Everbright Securities on its trading glitch last year, the company’s shares went down 3.21 percent to 9.04 yuan.
