TOTAL spending by MasterCard cardholders in Shanghai during the World Expo has more than doubled from the same period of last year, MasterCard has said.
The six-month Expo attracted a record 73 million visitors, 5.8 percent of whom came from overseas.
Cardholders from the United States, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan topped the firm's overseas spender list at the Expo. The No. 1 spending category for all overseas cardholders was restaurants and bars, excluding hotels.
