BANK card based transactions rose 31 percent to 74.7 billion yuan (US$11.3 billion) on China's -mainland in the week-long Spring Festival holiday, China UnionPay announced yesterday.
Overseas transactions rose more rapidly, by 44 percent, in the same period as more Chinese cardholders traveled overseas on holidays with a burgeoning pocket. The holiday is a traditional period where consumers go on shopping sprees.
