China seeks EU talks on adopting fastener settlement
China on Wednesday requested consultations with the European Union on the implementation of the Dispute Settlement Body’s recommendations in the China-EU fastener dispute, the World Trade Organization said in Geneva.
In 2009, China filed the complaint to WTO on the EU’s anti-dumping measures on Chinese-made fasteners, saying the measures taken by the EU against the import of Chinese iron or steel fasteners violate WTO trade regulations. The DSB adopted the Appellate Body report and the Panel report in July 2011, having ruled that China won.
Under the request submitted, China alleges the measures taken by the EU do “not fully and correctly implement the recommendations and rulings of the DSB” and that these measures are “not consistent with various provisions of the anti-dumping agreement and of the GATT 1994,” said the WTO in a statement.
