Coal counters pace decline in Shanghai trading

THE benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.77 percent to 2,308.56 points in midday trading, due to blue chips’ weak performance.

The coal shares declined, still suffering from excessive coal supplies in the market.

Wintime Energy lost 2.26 percent to 5.18 yuan, while Yang Quan Coal Industry dropped 2.25 percent to 6.94 yuan.

The new iPhone sets, released today, did not use sapphire for the screen. The sapphire-related companies saw a big decline.

Anhui Tongfeng Electronics was down 1.96 percent to 7.00 yuan.
