Complementary zones to help firms

The Shanghai Hongqiao Business Zone can complement the pilot free trade zone in the Pudong New Area and build Shanghai into a better platform for trade and investment, participants told the Hongqiao Trade Forum yesterday.
Located in Changning and Minhang districts, the Hongqiao Business Zone which houses an airport and a railway station is a perfect choice for companies providing consultancy, accounting, design and legal services, said Wang Zhan, president of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
“It is because these companies rely heavily on transport to expand their business,” Wang said. “Also, the Hongqiao zone has established a platform which integrates all kinds of services for companies. It is strong in e-commerce as well.”
The pilot FTZ opened in late September.
