Consumer mood eases as outlook dims
CHINESE consumer sentiment eased slightly in April as hopes for business conditions weakened although other indicators improved due to a better outlook for retail sales and consumption expenditure, according to a latest study.
The Westpac MNI China Consumer Sentiment dipped 0.3 percent in April to 117.8 from 118.1 a month ago, according to the survey released yesterday by Market News International, a Deutsche Boerse Group unit.
The retreat in the consumer sentiment was led by a fall in expectations in business conditions. The indicator of expected personal finances shed 1.8 percent to 116.1 in April.
But consumers were happy about their current personal financial situation whose indicator rose to 110.3, the highest since May 2014.
The sub-components for dining out and shopping rose to the highest since early 2014.
