BANK of East Asia's operations on Chinese mainland reported a smaller contribution to the lender's overall profit in the first half after growth in loans slowed. The lender derived 33 percent of its first-half pretax profit in China, compared with 36 percent a year earlier, according to the lender's interim report filed to the Hong Kong stock exchange yesterday.
