Czechs see closer ties with China as priority
THE Czech Republic expects to strengthen economic cooperation with China as a priority and the European country is also a gateway to the European Union market, Jan Mladek, Czech minister of industry and commerce, said in Shanghai yesterday.
“Our new leadership has decided that the improvement of Czech’s economic relations with China will be its priority,” Mladek said at a meeting with Chinese company executives. “Both countries have high expectations for future cooperation.”
The country is eying deeper cooperation with China in aviation, energy, automobile, biomedicine, finance and infrastructure construction.
As the country is located in the center of Europe, it is “a gateway for the European Union market that has a population of 500 million,” Mladek said as he attended a senior-level conference on the promotion of trade with central and eastern European countries at the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce.
